Welcome to the Derwent Mountaineering Club (DMC). We are a club based in Matlock, Derbyshire with a wide range of outdoor interests including climbing,
mountaineering, scrambling and walking. We have a diverse membership from around the Matlock area including Belper, Ashbourne, Chesterfield and Derby. We have a range of experience from novice
climbers, north face summiteers, alpinists and some just out for a walk and a range of ages from 20's to 70's and everything in between.
As the Covid-19 situation continues to develop, the Derwent Mountaineering Club has modified its activities in line with government and BMC guidance.
From 29th March, the ‘rule of six’ applies outdoors, allowing up to six people to meet outside.
A diary of events for the year has been planned but is subject to change depending on restrictions.
The club committee respectfully ask all club members to follow official health guidelines in relation to social distancing. Members may use the group email facility to make informal personal arrangements with other members but these must adhere to general national and local restrictions.
Our aim is simply to enjoy the outdoors, so why not join us and enjoy it too in a friendly and supportive club based on the edge of the Peak District in the Matlock area? We have a full programme of organised meets - weekends to North Wales and the Lake District, local day and evening meets, social events and trips further afield to the Alps and Scotland - and we regularly meet each other in between to climb or walk etc.
Find out more about our activities by following the links above. The activities section gives more details of these with examples of our recent exploits. Read our history in the magazine - Scramble - and have a look at our photo gallery.
If you would like to join the club, or just come and check us out you will find a membership form under the "Join DMC" link and some instructions as to how to do this.
